The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) is for eligible skilled workers in Australia’s labour market and their family acquaintances, allowing them to live, study, and work in specified regional areas of Australia for 5 years.

Points Allotment for Skilled Visa (subclass 491)

  • De Facto Partners and Skilled Spouses get ten points each.
  • Applicant receiving nomination from a state or territory government, or sponsorship from family members residing in remote Australia, are given fifteen points.
  • Applicants without permanent residency or Australian citizenship but have a spouse or de facto partner fluent in English are given five points.
  • Applicants with qualifications in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are given 10 points.

  • You must have nomination for applying to a state or territory government agency, on behalf of an eligible family member or relative in Australia.
  • Your selected profession must be included on Australia’s Skilled Occupation List.
  • You must have skills evaluation relevant for the job you are doing.
  • You must satisfy eligibility criteria of points-based test for applying for this visa.
  • You must have an invitation to apply for this visa.
